The Iron River chip mill was built in 2000 to serve SAPPI’s kraft mill in Cloquet, Minnesota.   The chip mill utilizes two John Deere front end loaders to handle chips and bark, a Hood AKM 2002 self propelled loader, and a Prentice 425 self propelled loader for handling wood to the mill and unloading trucks.

The mill has two Manitowoc 2200 ring debarkers, a Carthage 96 inch 10-knife chipper, and a General Electric 800 hp motor.  The mill produces 60 to 120 loads per week depending on chip orders.
