The Mercer facility was purchased in 1979, and the chipper installed in 1982.  The mill primarily supplies debarked aspen for Wausau-Mosinee  Paper  in Brokaw, Wisconsin.  Secondary markets are hardwood chips for SAPPI in Cloquet, Minnesota, Softwood for Mosinee Paper, and Hardwood chips for International Paper in Quinessec, Michigan.

The rolling stock consists of 1 Hood AKM 2002, two Dresser 550's, one John Deere 625 front end loader, and one John Deere 525 front end loader.  The debarking/chipping line features a Manitowoc 2200 ring debarker, a 96 inch six-knife Precision chipper, and a Rotex 10 x 20 chip screen.

The Mercer facility is the longest operating chip mill in the lake states, and has produced over one million cords of machine peeled wood and chips. during its life.
